A Seven-Day South Lombok Itinerary

A relaxed one-week South Lombok plan balancing surf, beaches, local food, scenic drives and meaningful downtime.

South Lombok coastline viewed during a relaxed week-long trip

Seven days gives South Lombok enough space to unfold without turning the holiday into a race. The strongest itinerary uses a comfortable base, a few priority experiences and several open periods for weather, surf conditions or simple rest. Treat the following plan as a rhythm rather than a timetable.

Keep arrival and departure days light, place demanding activities between recovery periods and allow different travellers to separate when interests differ. Mixed groups can use our mixed-ability surf planning guide to balance sessions with non-surf time.

A good week leaves room for changing weather, ocean conditions and the places you discover after arrival.

Days one and two: arrive, orient and enter the water carefully

On day one, arrange a reliable transfer, settle into the villa and walk Selong Belanak before sunset. Eat early, organise equipment and avoid scheduling a demanding surf immediately after travel. The aim is to understand the area and sleep well.

Use day two for a lesson or an easy session suited to current conditions. Non-surfers can walk the bay, enjoy breakfast or return to the pool. Read the Selong Belanak surf guide before entering the water.

Days three and four: explore another bay and choose a focused activity

On day three, choose one nearby beach rather than trying to cover the entire coast. Stop for local food and return before the drive becomes tiring. Our nearby beach overview helps match the destination to the group.

Day four can be the week’s focused activity: guided surf for experienced guests, another lesson, a cultural visit with a responsible guide or a longer scenic drive. Keep the evening simple and leave time to clean gear, hydrate and rest.

Days five and six: slow down, eat locally and revisit a favourite

Make day five deliberately light. Sleep later, enjoy the pool, read, book a massage or spend several hours over lunch. A quiet day is not wasted; it often protects energy for the rest of the trip.

On day six, return to the beach or café that felt best instead of seeking novelty. Visit a local warung, support a small business and travel with the respectful habits in our Sasak culture guide. Use the South Lombok food guide for meal planning.

  • Keep one morning open for the best surf or weather window.
  • Schedule a genuine recovery half-day after demanding water time.
  • Let family members or non-surfers choose at least one activity.
  • Avoid long drives on consecutive days when possible.

Day seven: finish gently and leave prepared

Use the final morning for a short walk, breakfast and packing rather than a distant excursion. Check drawers, charging points and drying areas, and allow time for traffic, fuel stops and board handling. If the departure is late, choose a nearby activity with a clear return plan.

Guests with only a weekend can use the shorter three-day itinerary. Those staying longer can repeat favourite routines instead of constantly adding destinations.

The one-week planning framework

  • One easy arrival day and one uncluttered departure day.
  • Two or three priority surf or beach sessions.
  • One longer exploration day and one recovery day.
  • Several local meals and at least one repeated favourite place.
  • Open time for weather, recommendations and rest.

Use the villa as your week-long base, check seasonal considerations, and share your dates and group size with the team.
