Instead of ranking every beach with one fixed list, choose according to conditions, access and the people travelling with you.
Selong Belanak is a natural starting point, while Mawi, Mawun, Tampah and beaches farther toward Kuta can add variety. Road quality, facilities and water conditions may change, so confirm locally and avoid assuming that a beautiful bay is safe for swimming.
Selong Belanak for an easy first day
The broad bay works well for a first orientation because visitors can walk, watch surf activity and find simple food without committing to a remote excursion. Beginners can arrange instruction when conditions are appropriate, while non-surfers can enjoy the atmosphere from shore.

Mawi for experienced surf observation
Mawi is better approached as an experienced surf destination than a general swimming beach. Visitors who are not surfing can still appreciate the landscape, but should remain aware of limited shade, changing access and the needs of local activity. Do not enter the water simply because others are surfing.

Mawun, Tampah and scenic alternatives
Other nearby bays can be rewarding for scenery, walking and a slower afternoon. The experience depends on weather, road conditions, water movement and available facilities. Carry water, sun protection and cash, and avoid leaving waste when bins are unavailable.
Ask your accommodation team or driver which beach suits the day. A local recommendation can save unnecessary driving and help you avoid a location affected by wind, construction, events or difficult access.
